The company is co-sponsoring a Mid-day Meal Scheme at Vadodara. The scheme is run by Akshaya Patra Foundation. Under the scheme, good quality hygienic food is provided/door delivered to the children of government schools without any charge. Approximately 30,000 children are covered by the Scheme at present and mid-day meal is served to them by the foundation. The company, along with other sponsors, bears a portion of the operational expenditure of mid-day meal scheme. The Akshaya Patra Foundation sets up a mechanized kitchen facility where the hygienic good quality food is prepared – with least human intervention - and the same is distributed to various schools in a specially built insulated delivery vans. The company has donated two such delivery vans also to Akshaya Patra Foundation. The company is also part financing the capital expenditure relating to civil work, plant and machinery of mechanized kitchen being set up by the Foundation at Vadodara. The foundation is having ISO 22000 certificate (relating to Food Safety) for their facilities and operations.
